So Far So Good16 January 2016
This has been a good year so far. I have received a lot of support to help me get through the 'thin times' and I have been searching books and people for ideas and philosophies to help me not torture myself with self doubt, blame and shame and it is working. Yay! My son and I went swimming at a friend of a friends house which was such a beautiful day one of the few warm ones we have had this summer. Today I went to go and watch some talented BMXers and FMXers fly at a local shopping centre Fraser Cove. It was absolutely amazing some of the jumps made my feet tingle, well most of them did and this was an experience I'm so glad I didn't miss. A FANTASTICAL FLYING START TO 2016 2016 Begins16 January 2016
It is 2016 I still have no work but I have applied for a couple of jobs that I would actually like to have. Initially I was in such a panic I was trying to apply for everything, it was exhausting! So what am I hoping to achieve this year... Get employment, learn new skills, do this the best I can. Think less, live more. Seek beauty, give love, be present. YEAH! What happened to 2015? 16 January 2016
Last year 2015 was kind of a tough one. I had less papers at university, but they seemed more intense. I was resitting a paper I had failed the year before, and I changed over from a benefit to a student allowance losing about $40 a week so money became even tighter. My brain worked even harder and my downtime became less and less. But the hard work with study paid off as I achieved my highest 'academic' grades last year not a C or D to be seen... sort of... If I counted the practicum element (which I must, though I wish I didn't) I got an F=FAIL not a P=PASS like I needed to get the degree. So 2015 was NOT ending quite how I wanted it to end needed it to end, no degree, no work and Christmas was coming. This meant that businesses had already employed their rush staff and difficult getting a job. On a positive note I met some lovely new people this year, when I found a church that didn't scare me. I was reacquainted with a high school friend. My son and I went to see Mocking Jay pt2 on the BIG screen. And I also got to spend time with an aunt who has always inspired me to just do life! So it wasn't all bad. *stumbles into 2016* The world's rarest dolphin is

Easter Excursion 2014
Good Friday started with a rumble I woke just before 5am wondering who was walking up and down my drive with a wheelie bag. That is exactly what it sounded like and it went on for quite awhile. After gathering some of my senses I got out of bed and poked my head out the front door.
Oh Thunder I thought that makes so much more sense I thought as a sigh of relief left me, I have no idea what I would have said to someone pulling a wheelie up and down my drive. We got ready for our weekend my son was going to Auckland to his his father and I was going with a friend to find some pretty tracks to walk through over in the Waikato.
As the rain fell heavily and consistently from the sky I wondered are we really going to do this?
We did saw Cullen off on the bus and then we headed west in the pouring rain. As we reached the summit of the Kaimai and looked down across the expansive plains of the Waikato sun shone golden and inviting. We headed to Putaruru and found the Jim Barnett Reserve where we would take a stroll amongst the fern fungi and fauna. It was a lovely gentle stroll and major photo op for me - the amateur photographer - below is a compilation of those photos.

We went and visited my grandmother in Te Awamutu for a couple of hours and had a cuppa. Then Friday evening we booked into Opal Springs Holiday Park. We explored the grounds had something to eat and then went to soak. I love water and I soaked in the 37C thermal pool for a good while but the call do put my head under was so strong I had to jump into the 32C pool and swim a few lengths and go down the slide it was just the coolest and the kids didn't seem to mind sharing the slide with a more mature kid. The sleep in the car wasn't too bad though the mozzies buzzed about a bit their bites weren't as itchy as the Tauranga bugs, which we were thankful for.
Saturday morning dawned grey but I was back in the pool soaking swimming sliding I totally love being able to do such exercise in the morning. We met up with my friend's friends and made our way to Wairere Falls as you drove down to the carpark you could see the falls from the road they were magnificent! I guess the rain from the cyclone had topped them up nicely. We all walked up to the lower lookout which took approx 45 mins and then three of us decided we couldn't come this far and not go to the top it would be crazy! So up we went for another 45mins of butt work and lung strengthening and this time we all ended up going at our own pace I trailed because my lungs do not do vertical slopes well and my thighs were pretty much singing to me half way up first flight of steps. Nearing what I thought must be the top I could hear rumblings in the distant. I hadn't seen anyone in awhile and I seemed to be getting further from the falls I could barely hear them as the track flattened out but I kept going because I had to find the end of the track. Then it started raining and I saw someone further up the track when I caught up I saw it was one of the ladies I came with and a few minutes later we caught up with our other friend we were thankful we'd done this last leg and 'Conquered the Mountain' standing right next to the raging falls river made me a little nervous though. Then when we went to turn to head towards the edge of the falls and the rain/hail blew fiercely into our faces making us scream and laugh at the same time it was really exciting and we totally loved the experience and it had only taken us 20 mins! We were so proud. Even though my lungs were wanting to run away and my legs make like jelly, I would do it again in a blink. Below is a few photos of our journey up the mountain.

Coming down the mountain was so much easier for me I love finding the straight line the best route to bound across. One of my companions said I was like a mountain goat descending that mountain I was happy with that description because I love goats. A great walk/hike to take and people were going up as we were coming down so I guess it can be done in any weather. I would like to visit in a dryer season to see the falls in their natural less energized state.
I hope you all had a lovely Easter.

I Found Magic On The Last Day03-03-14
On Friday I found magic! The magic came from unassuming Magicians, okay they were artists, however I think you will find magic in their work as I did; via MyModernMet Balancing river pebbles and rocks of various sizes into spectacular temporary scultures in rivers, snow melt, and desert scapes. via you tube you can join Michael on some of his artistic adventures in the wilds. Anthony Howe takes wild to new levels with his kinetic art. The designs so intricately shaped from steele and pieced together so precisely that it is difficult to comprehend how these designs actually work. The movement of these sculptures in the wind is mesmerising. From metal to paper in another impossible to fathom fashion Li Hongbo concertinas layers and layers of paper then finely sculpts them into forms of busts and skulls they look solid then the magic happens. Morphintastic Magic! I think these artists are phenomenal!
I can only aspire to their greatness I have never come close to what these amazing men have accomplished. But I will continue to create because it feels good to bring to fruition that idea that seeded seemingly miraculously. We live to learn and share our learning that it may enrich another life. I hope you enjoyed the magic. edited 26-10-14 |

Becoming a People for the People03-04-14
Max Igan is a great man and has a great voice. He along with many others are trying to alert the masses to the atrocities that are going on today in our world. I am hopeful he will reach many because it really is important that people start to care about life and get angry about those who take away our freedoms and the lives of innocents. "We are becoming an apathetic peoples, our humanity is almost lost." ~ Camelia ~ Please watch Max's presentation it is relevant and very important. #TPP #BoycottMonsanto #FREEPalestine #STOPDeforestation #BoycottPalmOil Here is the link to Max's Full Circle project. So on Saturday my son and I walked down town to listen and to be a part of this very important movement. I have been talking about it for months now and thinking about it for longer. The idea that people intent on making money can create foods, additives, medicines, vaccines, that can harm or even kill people as well as poison and pollute the land that humans need to survive, it is astounding to me. If the TPP agreement goes through people all over the world are going to be in a far worse position than they are now.
Why would anyone with a conscience do such a thing. They wouldn't would they.... But many do not even care about this issue and that to me is a worry. It was a small rally here in Tauranga perhaps around 100 people may have turned up. For me it was inspiring that peoples from all walks of life took time out of their weekend to come together and attempt to do some good in the world. We need to start taking a stand for the health of our children and the health of their children. Apathy will be the end of mankind. The world is not a safe place we are letting men with all the money in the world experiment on the environment, ourselves and animals just so they can sit back and watch what their machinations produce. The tyranny of a Prince in an oligarchy, is not so dangerous to the public welfare, as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy. - Charles de Montesquieu - New Zealand Herald Thousands Protest TPPA in Auckland Stuff/Dominion Post Hundreds join TPPA protest in Wellington |
What I Did This Summer
03-03-14
What I did this summer... I have been hunting truths and with the mass of information and misinformation about it has certainly been a lot of fun and sometimes frustration. The truths I have focused on have been global affairs, human issues, and animal issues. I have been watching the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) which was seeded in 2005 under a different name and without the USA. The TPP is an international deal in which USA and 11 other countries are trying to agree on ways to govern certain areas of commerce, industry, medicine and intellectual property. For a thoroughly brief introduction a longtime twitter friend shared this and in my opinion makes a very fine nutshell to showcase it, Upworthy: A Secret Trade Deal So Outrageous This agreement has been very secret in it's dealings and President Obama has been trying to fast track the deals which have been kept very quiet, however leaks have been getting out and just last week I found one of the most indepth articles to date again via my twitter stream. Public Citizen: Administration Desperate to Announce at TPP Ministerial, But what is the Real Deal? The deals they are trying to strike are crazy and it looks like countries are not going to lay down and just do as the biggest, strongest power asks it to do. At least this is how I read it even though I have seen from even little New Zealand that they are keen to finish negotiations first half of 2014. It is my opinion that the TPP fits nicely with the next topic I have been following or perhaps chasing which is Agenda 21, a 'UN initiative' for environmental sustainability that has been around since Severne Suzuki made her wonderful speech at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio. However Agenda 21 is simply an extension ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability. There is a pdf you can download with all the information you need to know about Agenda 21. Unlike TPP dealings it is all out there. The worry over this initiative is that the governments are going to herd 'citizens into cities allow no individuals to own land or property under the guise of sustainability and practically control the populace around the world. This sounds like a wild conspiracy theory I know, but we are actually heading that way willingly. When the American government shutdown it made me wonder, how easy is it to get compliance from such a vast population? USA Today - ShutDown ENDS. Apparently some citizens didn't even know it had happened. Glen Beck has written a 'novel' on a possible outcome of such an initiative (I borrowed this novel from the library). So these are two of the global issues I am following at the moment. I am also following the labeling of GMO's cases in the US though products are already exempt from being labeled in the Monsanto Protection Act. There are also farmers fighting to be exempt from Monsanto suing them should his seed contaminate their crops there is a farmer in Australia who is at the moment going through the courts Steve Marsh, please read his story. So I am world watching at the moment it has been a favourite of mine for a good part of my life, sometimes I get distracted by me me me and little dramas I seem to inevitably get myself into perhaps as a reprieve from the reality I see when I don't see me. What I am doing towards making the world a better place; I have stopped eating meat in respect of life for all beings, studying permaculture online to learn how one can live with nature successfully. I am culling the palm oil products from my diet (it is in EVERYTHING!) because Orangutans are losing their only natural homes. I am signing petitions for any causes I deem important for any species and or environment. I am trying to source organic and local produce cutting out palm products actually puts a huge dent in the processed food which is great! - two birds in the hand - I have been watching the world and it's injustices to humans, animals, land and it is a sad world. We have not been able to make the Earth a better place to live for all living things. Truth isn't easy to find but I do think it is a worthy venture. For there is so much beauty in this world and a lot of people are standing up speaking their truths to try and help people see what is going on in the world with the hope that we as a species will shed the shackles of those who run and destroy the world so that we may start to live a life that nurtures all living things in our known universe. Let me share their beauty here; |
